chocolate chip cookies

from the back of the whole foods chocolate chips package

  • 1 C softened butter
  • 1 C granulated sugar
  • 1/2 C brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 1/3 C unsifted flour
  • 1 t salt
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 12 oz (2 cups) chocolate chips
  • 1 C shredded coconut
  • 1 C walnuts if you want (and if Alyssa's not around)

Preheat oven to 375 F. Cream together softened butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla till fluffy. Combine unsifted flour, salt, and baking soda and stir into creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Add 1 C chopped walnuts and 1 C of shredded coconut ([NB: the coconut is awesome!]) if desired. Drop from teaspoon 2 inches apart onto greased cookie sheets. Bake for 10 minutes.

Makes 6 dozen cookies
